TEAM met the Deputy Minister of MoF, YB Pn Lim Hui Ying, together with Head of SST Division in the Ministry of Finance (MoF), Deputy Senior Director and Deputy Directors of the Sales & Service Tax Department of the Customs Department, on 7 October 2025 at the MP’s office in the Parliament.
TEAM explained the ecosystem of timber industry and strongly appealed to the MoF to exempt sawn timber, HS Code 4407 from SST.
The Deputy Minister was understanding and supportive of the importance of the timber industry. She advised her officers to engage with Customs Department and TEAM to review and explore the best way to address this matter.
TEAM will continue to follow up closely on this matter and have more engagements with the MoF.
